Made for the day of Ashura, this piece takes a single verse from the Quran (4:135) and wraps it into a shield. The thuluth letterforms interlock and lock edge to edge, the way armour is made - justice not as the thing that keeps you safe, but as the thing you hold up when nothing else will. At the centre sits a core of gold leaf: grief can close in from every side and never reach what won't bend.
